Grew up in Melbourne and started fishing when I was 5. Mainly targeted redfin and carp in the Yarra until the age of 12. Moved to Narooma at that age and starting working part-time at Ocean Hut fishing and dive centre in Narooma. At 14 began gamefishing and caught many monster yellowfin at Montague (when they were still around), the best at 105kg. Kingfish on jigs and trolling live frigate mackerel were also favorites.

The game bug was well and truly set and gained my coxswain's certificate so I could skipper a game boat at the age of 18. Skippered 2 boats, a 33ft shark cat then a 41 steber for 6-7yrs. Absolutely loved it and in this time if I wasn't fishing outside then the estuary was copping a flogging as well. Big flathead, bream and mulloway were the targets in the estuaries. LBG was also high on the list with Beecroft peninsula and the Mystery Bay rocks getting regular visits.

At 26 I went and traveled alot chasing big fast fish. Spent a season at Cairns and Port Stephens, and went to Vanuatu for a look as well. Lucky enough to land a massive Black marlin estimated at 1100lb at Lizard Island before she was let go. That fish was a childhood dream that came true and took 6.5 hrs to land.

Decisions had to be made in regards to where my fishing ambitions were heading. I’d been lucky enough to experience some unbelievable action on the open ocean. A decision was made in year 2000 and the estuary guiding option along the South coast of NSW was my number 1 choice. Using soft plastics and hard-bodied lures was always a favorite of mine in the estuaries, so why not put it into practice and make a business out of it. A lot of homework was done with boats, setting up a company and the list goes on. In 2003 Aussie Fish Estuary Adventures was established with great anticipation of what the future held.

Aussie Fish Estuary Adventures is now a respected south coast guiding operation that operates from Bateman’s Bay to the Vic border. Species targeted include Mulloway, big flathead, bream, bass, estuary perch, salmon, tailor and just about anything that swims. Lures are used predominately but we do cater for fly and bait fishos also.

Aussie Fish Estuary Adventures places great pride on getting their clients results. Many anglers have gotten their PB’s with us and the photos and testimonials say it all. Stuart is a regular contributor to some of the nations leading fishing magazines and has been seen on TV shows like IFISH, Destinations, the Fish’n trip, with various DVD appearances.
